Design Review Committee

Although our plans got approved quite quickly, it wasn't without issue - we had to pay a Design Review Committee fee to the Developer's Architect. Needless to say, we were very surprised about this fee as it wasn't mentioned in the contract or the guideline that we would have to cover the cost. We would have thought the Developer would pay for it since it's them hiring the Architect to ensure the guidelines are being met.

We paid the fee to avoid further delays but what are the chances of getting this back...

  1. Hmmmm... Seems strange that you even had to apply let alone pay. Both PD and Carlisle applied on our behalf. We did fix site costs though. Did you go fixed or to order??

  2. Hi Reinsey,

Carlisle initially applied for us but were halted when asked for the payment. They then left it up to us to pay the fee and obtain approval. Carlisle said they had never experienced this situation where further fees needed to be paid. They said usually the Developer would cover the costs. Guess it forms part of the Developer's payment toward the land.
